Itineraries

From Rome, the eternal city par excellence, with its unique treasures, signs of almost three thousand years of history…

You start on a route that touches the area west of  the city, with ancient sites such as Cerveteri, and then north towards the Tuscia, with Sutri, Tarquinia, Tuscania, Vulci (telling the glories of the Etruscan period with numerous necropolis scattered throughout the countryside and important archaeological findings).
Another very interesting area is the region of the lakes of volcanic origin (declared regional parks and protected areas) which includes Bracciano, Martignano and, further north, Vico and Bolsena. All of them are tourist destinations for the beaches, water sports, campings as well as the well-preserved historical centers dating back to the middle ages.

In addition to Bracciano (with its wonderful castle), there are alsoViterbo (the City of the Popes), Civita Castellana, then north to the Southern Maremma: Capalbio, Magliano, Scansano and many others.

Locations of historic homes, masterpieces of Renaissance architecture, are Tivoli (located east of Rome), which houses the famous Villa d’Este, built in 1550 (famous for its fountains that bring the visitor back in time into the ancient palace) but also Caprarola, home of the Palazzo Farnese, Bagnaia with Villa Lante and surreal places such as the Park of Monsters in Bomarzo, which shows unique, bizarre and grotesque giant sculptures, unusual for the XVI century, spread in a natural park.
Furthermore, charming villages that retain a magical atmosphere: Civita di Bagnoregio (the dying city), Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana, built in tuff stone, with their narrow streets and many small craft shops, Manciano, with the Rocca Aldobrandesca and the structure of the Cassero Senese.

But the mentioned area is not only a paradise for lovers of history and culture:
also sea lovers will be delighted to discover areas such as: the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago, which includes, among others, the Islands of Giglio and Giannutri, real pearls of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the beaches of dark coarse sand of  Montalto di Castro, the cliffs of the Argentario and the fine white sand of Feniglia dell’Osa and Talamone.
Also worthy of mention are the beautiful beaches of Lido di Capalbio, Ansedonia, Marina di Grosseto, up to the famous seaside resorts of Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala and Follonica.

We can’t forget the thermal baths and spas in Viterbo (with its Terme dei Papi , already known by the ancient Romans for their therapeutic qualities ) and Saturnia.

Grosseto  deserves a special mention too: it is the capital of the Maremma, only a few kilometers away from the sea and one of the Italian cities to have preserved its original structure (enclosed by walls). Orbetello, a pleasant town full of shops and meeting places, especially busy in the summer due to its location that makes it a necessary step for those who want to reach Monte Argentario through the narrow strip of land in the center of the lagoon.

Following are just a few examples among the most interesting and requested routes but keep in mind that each tour can be modified and adjusted according to personal tastes.
