The basic route of 3 days allows you to discover some of the most typical villages of the Maremma area – which stretches between the sea and the mountains – by performing a sensory journey among the most authentic products of the region.
It is possible to extend the program for 1 day, staying overnight at one of the hotels in the area selected by us.
On day 1, before arriving in Capalbio, we stop at the historic Mill, where you will learn the techniques of fine local olive oil production (which you can taste during the visit). After stopping for lunch in a typical local restaurant, you get to CAPALBIO where you can visit the typical medieval village situated on a hill 209 meters above sea level and surrounded by the countryside.
The journey then continues towards SORANO, crossing the town of MANCIANO, where you can make a short stop to look at this ancient possessions of the Aldobrandeschi, Orsini, Siena and finally the city of Florence. Accommodation in one of our selected hotels or cottages near Sorano. Dinner and overnight stay.
The 2nd day we depart early for a visit to the dairy factory of Sorano, to see when the milk arrives, then follow the cheese production and the processing of ricotta, then the aging rooms. The tour will end at the shop where it is possible to buy the products of the factory. Transfer to Sorano and lunch made of local dishes.
Afterwards, you will visit the village and the Leopold rock, a huge outcrop of tuff stone which, given its strategic location, was paved and equipped with a fortified tower since the Middle Ages.
Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
The 3rd day we leave for MAGLIANO IN TUSCANY, where you can wander through the village and along the walls (in part Aldobrandeschi and partly Siena), from which you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama that reaches the Argentario, Isola del Giglio and Talamone.
Then we make a stop at one of the famous local wineries where, accompanied by an oenologist, you will learn the methods of vinification of fine local wines (including the “Morellino” of Scansano)and you can visit the estate and the barrel cellar, where the wines rest for years in large barrels. The tour ends with a tasting of fine wines accompanied by croutons, cold cuts and cheeses or, if available, having lunch at the adjoining restaurant.
In the afternoon we continue towards Scansano where you will visit the charming village, full of history. When finished, return to your destination.
Optional extension: the 4th day we will go towards Grosseto for a stroll in the interesting old town and along the main street full of shops and boutiques.
Then we will go along the coast stopping at TALAMONE, a pretty seaside town and, after lunch, stopping at the ARGENTARIO with its elegant centers of Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano.
